Memorial: Betrayal of Huize Lidwina – September 1944

Huize Lidwina was an ideal headquarters for the Twente resistance fighters. Hidden in the woods near Zenderen in the East of the Netherlands, the villa could hardly be seen from the road. On the morning of Saturday, September 23, 1944, the Germans invaded the resistance nest and then blew it up. Coen Hilbrink his father Sietse Hilbrink and Dirk Cornelis Rider were murdered by the Germans.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the betrayal of Huize Lidwina. This is what we commemorate on 23 September.
